Sabrina 2 x Doernbecher Freestyle “Sophia”

As part of the Doernbecher Freestyle program, which gives young patients the opportunity to work with our Nike design team, Sophia created her very own happy-go-lucky Sabrina 2. Scattered with flowers, smiley faces and her favorite pickle stuffie, Sophia's shoe is a friendly reminder of all the things that bring her comfort in life.

Behind the Design

For a dash of cozy comfort, the collar is lined with the same texture as Sophia’s beloved fuzzy blanket. As a finishing touch, she added “Sophia” and “Strong” to the back heels, a phrase her community penned to encourage her can-do attitude.

Soft and Durable

A forefoot Air Zoom unit gives you responsive pop and speed. The midsole has two types of foam. Our newest Cushlon foam gives you a plush underfoot sensation, so your feet feel fresh throughout the fourth quarter. A firmer Cushlon foam wraps around it to provide stability.

Control for the Court

A dynamic internal midfoot containment system with a fit band and stitched cables allows you to control every movement once you lace up.

Cut Fast

A modified herringbone pattern we’ve dubbed S-traction offers amazingly quick changes of direction on a dime, the type of stop-and-go swerves and sharp cuts that can help you get buckets in bundles.

Personal Touch

Check out the bits of fragments around the Swoosh logo, an ode to the proverbial glass ceiling Sabrina continues to break through in the game of basketball. The embroidered S’s on the back half of the design pay homage to the dream-weavers who continue to strive to do more.

Doernbecher Freestyle Program

Since 2004, Nike’s Doernbecher Freestyle Program has raised $40 million for OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital. This special partnership gives young patients the opportunity to work with Nike designers to create their own Nike and Jordan Brand sneakers. Their one-of-a-kind shoes are then sold at retail—with every penny going to the children’s hospital.
