Nike Dunk High x Doernbecher Freestyle "Macey"

As part of the Doernbecher Freestyle program, which gives young patients the opportunity to work with Nike designers, Macey channeled her family mantra: "She believed she could so she did." That phrase guides Macey in everything she does, so she made sure to give it a place of honor on the midsole of her flower-powered shoe. As someone who loves baking, Macey included a sweet surprise inside for you: the recipe to her very own chocolate chip cookies.

A Quote to Live By

"She believed she could so she did." This family mantra speaks to Macey's immense strength and courage. As does the gray ribbon on the upper, which represents her status as a brain tumor survivor.

Flower Power

Macey hand-painted the delicate floral pattern, accented by some of her favorite colors.

Doernbecher Freestyle Program

Since 2004, Nike’s Doernbecher Freestyle Program has raised nearly $37 million for OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital. This special partnership gives young patients the opportunity to work with Nike designers to create their own collections of Nike and Jordan Brand sneakers, apparel and accessories. Their one-of-a-kind collections are then auctioned off at the program’s annual fundraiser—with every penny going to the children’s hospital.
