The Nike DBreak-Type takes inspiration from Día de Muertos, a Mexican tradition that celebrates life and death while honoring family and beloved ones. Inspired by the traditional ofrenda placed every year during Día de Muertos celebration, it remixes heritage with a modern approach grounded on art and culture. It takes color and material inspiration from Mexican ofrendas, altars used to welcome the dead home during Día de Muertos celebrations. Bright colors and open-mesh lace in the upper mirrors the lace and bright decorations commonly seen on traditional ofrendas.

Durable suede, leather and synthetic leather on the upper nod to the OGs that started it all. The iconic rubber Waffle sole adds traction, durability and heritage style.
Flower of the Dead
By the back of the shoe, an embroidered marigold represents the flower of the dead, whose scent is used to reunite living and departed family members during holiday celebrations.
